SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. seeks a CGSB Certified NDT Technician who is self-motivated and safety-oriented to join our team in western Canada.

The role is site-based in the Wood Buffalo region with fly-in/fly-out from Calgary and Edmonton hubs, following a 14 days on/14 days off rotation. You will detect deficiencies on heavy equipment using NDT methods, interpret test results to applicable standards, document findings, and mentor junior crew members while maintaining strong client

Qualifications

  • CGSB UTII/MTII/PTII certifications are required
  • Minimum 2 years of NDT field experience as a certified technician
  • Truck shop experience is required; additional NDT certs are assets
  • CWB certifications are an asset
  • IRATA Rope Access is an asset
  • Must have Emergency First Aid, Confined Space Entry and Rescue, OSSA Fall Protection
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Valid driver’s license held
  • Able to work at height and lift up to 50 lbs
  • English literacy and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Detect deficiencies on heavy equipment using NDT methods and procedures
  • Interpret or evaluate test results per codes, standards, specs, or procedures
  • Complete work assignments per inspection procedures in a timely, competent manner
  • Document and record inspection findings
  • Complete field sketches as required
  • Maintain and share equipment to minimize damage
  • Perform scope of work to client satisfaction
  • Understand local jurisdiction regulations for tasks
  • Report equipment maintenance/repair issues
  • Oversee repair and maintenance for assigned equipment
  • Record inspection results and perform NDT methods
  • Adhere to safety regulations and safe practices
  • Report unsafe activities, hazards or concerns
  • Mentor and guide assistant crew members
  • Communicate with clients professionally
  • Resolve client questions or complaints

Job description

SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. is seeking a CGSB Certified NDT Technician who is self-motivated and safety-oriented to join our team. SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. has provided in-service pressure vessel inspections predominately to the Oil and Gas industry across western Canada since 2004, and is seeking a skilled, experienced, and team-oriented candidate who values quality and integrity.

SHIFT AND LOCATION
  • This position will be site based (Wood Buffalo Region)
  • Fly in/fly out (Calgary and Edmonton hubs)
  • Camp based, 14 days on/14 days off rotation
Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Detecting deficiencies on heavy equipment using NDT methods and procedures of inspection
  • Interpret or evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures
  • Understand and complete work assignments as per company inspection procedures, in a timely, effective and competent manner
  • Document and record findings identified in inspections performed
  • Complete field sketches as required in accordance with approved procedures
  • Maintain and utilize the shared equipment effectively, minimizing and preventing damage
  • Perform the scope of work to completion and satisfaction of the client
  • Understand local jurisdiction regulations in conducting job tasks
  • Report equipment maintenance/repair issues in accordance with company procedures for corrective action
  • Oversee repair and maintenance for equipment assigned and ensure related documentation is maintained
  • Record results of inspections and perform NDT methods and other operations
  • Responsible to adhere to all safety regulations, standards and maintain safe work practices
  • Responsible to report any unsafe work activities, hazards or concerns
  • Responsible to mentor and provide guidance to assistant crew members
  • Communicate with clients in a friendly, efficient and professional manner when interacting
  • Resolve client questions, concerns or complaints
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Minimum of CGSB UTII/MTII/PTII certifications
  • Additional NDT certifications considered an asset
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in NDT field as a certified technician
  • Truck Shop experience required
  • CWB certifications considered an asset
  • Must have the following valid safety certifications prior to employment: Emergency First Aid, Confined Space Entry and Rescue, and OSSA Fall Protection
  • IRATA Rope Access certification considered an asset
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to work at high elevations
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. unassisted and to operate hand tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Read and write in English
  • Ability to collaborate on assignments
  • Experience working in confined spaces and working from heights
  • Strong attention to detail required to provide thorough inspection observations
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test prior to site deployment
