Weir Canada, Inc. in Halifax, NS is hiring a Modelling & Simulation Engineer to conduct M&S and IV&V activities for naval systems within the NETE program.

The role requires collaboration with the PMO and work at both in-office and shipboard environments in Dartmouth/Halifax. The candidate will support LBTC, MBSE and IT&E efforts, with a focus on software development, data analysis and test integration on Navy projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Experience in the defence industry or working with Naval systems.
• Must obtain Government of Canada security clearance; Canadian citizenship; 10 years residence.
• Strong written and spoken English; ability to communicate with peers, supervisors and clients.
• Knowledge in simulation, data analysis of large datasets; Systems engineering lifecycle.
• Programming experience, especially MATLAB or Python; experience with databases/SQL; version control with Perforce and Git.

Responsibilities

• Modelling & Simulation (M&S) of Naval equipment and threats; develop environmental models and large-scale scenarios; integrate models into a synthetic ship; follow configuration management practices.
• IV&V: analyze equipment performance using M&S and live test data.
• Synthetic Environment Support: develop software requirements, perform testing; V&V and accreditation of the synthetic environment and tools; create technical documentation.
• Document and present technical data for stakeholder reviews; articulate arguments clearly.
• Develop and document code for analysis and V&V; analyze M&S results.
• Support to client: maintain positive relationships with team members and stakeholders; liaison with DND customers and suppliers.
• Safety First: uphold zero-harm culture and safety practices.
