JOB DESCRIPTION Are you thinking about advancing your career with one of the most successful logistics organizations worldwide? Here at Kuehne+Nagel, our Toronto office is looking for a new National Sea Logistics Controller to join our Finance team.

Your Role

As Business unit controller you will support OCC / RCC departments. You will act as the business partner to provide financial expertise, strategic development support and collaboration and robust risk assessment, to drive and challenge sustainable, profitable growth whilst ensuring financial and KPI health and also you will ensure financial transactional accuracy and adherence to ICS compliance and Kuehne+Nagel Guidelines.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will monitor and adhere to ICS (internal audit controls) and corporate policies and guidelines
  • Independently process month end closing to ensure accurate revenue, GP and cost recognition, with minimal losses
  • Monitor and maintain FSL adherence within Kuehne+Nagel GuidelinesGuidelines / ICS Controls including accruals and releases
  • Collaborate with the business unit, OCC / RCC departments to ensure financial integrity of the monthly results
  • Analyze financial reports and KPIs such as unacknowledged items, customer ageing; deferrals and support business to ensure improvement and actions taken
  • Business Investment Applications
  • Ensure corporate MCoA and BU structure is in place and up to date including maintaining allocation keys and methodology
  • Provide ACON support & training to all Business Unit staff
  • Perform audits and train on internal guidelines, corporate policies and financial tools
  • Career development and growth plans including succession planning
  • Review customer and product profitability and monitor to mitigate / reduce loss making departments and customers with aim to turn profitable
  • Produce accurate Business Unit forecast / target in conjunction with the business unit managers
  • Identify risks and sensitivities provide guidance and recommendations
  • Develop bridges to explain variances
  • Monitor continuously business development in terms of productivities, volumes and costs / challenge overspend, budget to actual
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting regarding data quality,completeness and relevancy
  • Identify, recommend and support implementation of process improvements
  • Provide support and guidance to the business for commercial and strategic decisions
  • Collaboration to provide enhancements; improvements; troubleshooting problems and synergies
  • Collaborate with NAM Controlling to ensure best practice

Your Skills and Experiences

  • CPA / CMA or Bachelors degree in accounting discipline is needed
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and / controlling environment
  • 3+ years of experience in Logistics / freight forwarding environment is preferred
  • In depth understanding of financial and accounting concepts
  • Advanced proficiency inMS Word and PowerPoint, and can maintain complex Excel spreadsheets
  • 1+ years of Continuous Improvement experience using Lean Six Sigma and 5S methodologies
  • Management and Project Lead experience
  • Flexibility to travel frequently to support the Canada National operations
