The National Appraisal Team Leader, Property manages all appraisal channels for vendor program adherence, quality assurance and contractual obligations of Restoration vendors. This role also oversees the performance and quality of the Property Appraisal Desk Review and will also oversee any future Field Appraisal and Reinspection Program Roles that are added to the business. This role would be responsible for hiring and retaining talent aligned with Gore Mutual’s practices and principles. This role has a team of direct reports made up of desk adjusters and field adjusters!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess performance and develop standards for performance using XactAnalysis and industry data, mentoring staff and vendors to improve key metrics such as indemnity, Net Promoter Score, cycle time, and appraisal skills.
  • Main point of contact for vendor issues and inquiries, resolving customer service issues.
  • Use data to identify, assess, and propose corrective opportunities, developing detailed business plans with recommendations.
  • Conduct quality assurance (TFR) on appraisal staff and vendors.
  • Evaluate market needs and vendor relationships to ensure customer service capacity, value, and quality.
  • Report on vendor KPI performance and market trends like estimate inflation pressures.
  • Seek innovative solutions for a market-leading appraisal program and standards.

Vendor Management

  • Represent business interests, communicate performance expectations, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Ensure vendor performance and compliance, providing timely feedback and escalating issues as needed.
  • Participate in contract development, develop RFP criteria, and lead emergency and repair initiatives with vendors.

Establish and Maintain Appraisal Standards

  • Support the development of standards and practices aligned with claims strategy to manage costs and promote efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate risk identification, evaluation, and escalation protocols.
  • Coordinate vendor efforts during catastrophic events, focusing on proactivity and speed.
  • Drive continuous improvement and engage the claims community for feedback.

Appraisal Channel Management

  • Maintain visual scorecards measuring KPIs and productivity, benchmarking against industry standards.
  • Stay updated on market capabilities and rates.
  • Travel nationally for vendor relationship management and quality assurance.
  • Perform calibration and training for appraisal channels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Claims Property.

Claims and Vendor Relationship Management

  • Develop effective stakeholder relationships across claims, training, technology, and support teams.
  • Guide leadership on performance, selection, and strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate to share best practices and improve processes.
  • Support decision-making by addressing performance challenges.

What you need to Succeed:

  • Community college required
  • 3-5+ years of property appraisal experience
  • 2+ years of vendor management experience
  • 2+ years of leadership experience

Hybrid: This role requires working in our Cambridge, Ontario office 2 days per week.
