Job description

A private family in Vancouver, BC is seeking an experienced, reliable, and caring Nanny to provide attentive care and support for three school-aged children, ages 7, 9, and 10.

This is a full-time, permanent position with a split-shift schedule, five days per week, including Saturdays and Sundays. The Nanny will play an important role in the children's daily routines, including morning preparation, school-related responsibilities, transportation to activities, and afternoon and evening care.

The position is part of a teamwork environment with another Nanny, requiring strong communication, collaboration, and coordination to ensure consistency in the children's routines and care.

The ideal candidate is warm, responsible, organized, and confident caring for multiple school-aged children. They should be comfortable managing changing schedules and coordinating activities while maintaining a safe, positive, and structured environment.

The position will also involve occasional overnight stays at the residence, particularly when the children have activities requiring an early start the following morning.

The family travels one to two times per year for approximately one week at a time, and the Nanny will be expected to accompany them.

The residence is accessible by public transportation. A valid driver's licence is required for transporting the children to activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide attentive, age-appropriate care for three children, ages 7, 9, and 10.
  • Work collaboratively with the other Nanny to coordinate schedules, responsibilities, routines, and activities.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with the other Nanny and parents to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist with morning routines and preparation for school.
  • Support afternoon and evening routines, including homework, activities, meals, and preparation for the following day.
  • Drive the children to and from school, extracurricular activities, appointments, and other engagements as required.
  • Coordinate and keep track of the children's schedules and activities.
  • Prepare simple, nutritious meals and snacks for the children as required.
  • Maintain organization of the children's belongings, school items, activity equipment, and personal spaces.
  • Assist with children's laundry and other child-related household tasks.
  • Encourage good manners, independence, responsibility, and age-appropriate routines.
  • Plan and supervise activities during weekends, school holidays, and other non-school days.
  • Stay overnight at the residence on occasion, particularly when required to accommodate early-morning children's activities.
  • Communicate effectively with the parents regarding schedules, activities, and the children's needs.
  • Accompany the family on one to two trips per year, generally for approximately one week at a time.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform other child-related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Previous professional experience as a Nanny or in a comparable childcare role.
  • Experience caring for multiple school-aged children.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a household team.
  • Valid driver's licence and a safe driving record.
  • Comfortable driving children to activities and appointments.
  • Able to work a split-shift schedule and weekends.
  • Available for occasional overnight stays as required.
  • Available to travel with the family one to two times per year.
  • Comfortable working in a household with dogs.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, responsible, and adaptable.
  • Warm and professional approach with children and parents.
  • Discreet and respectful of the family's privacy.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
SCHEDULE
  • The regular schedule is a split shift beginning at approximately 7:00 a.m. and ending at approximately 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays and Sundays are regular working days. The two weekly days off will fall during the week.
  • Exact working hours and the break between shifts will be established with the family.
  • Occasional overnight stays will be required, particularly when the children's activities require an early departure the following morning.
  • Flexibility may occasionally be required based on the children's activities, school schedule, family commitments, and travel.
TRAVEL
  • Approximately one to two trips per year, generally for one week at a time.
