General Responsibility:

The Nagijeung Abinoojiik Project is a 24-hour, Indigenous-led, community-based response service for inner-city families and community care providers in Winnipeg who need assistance to keep children and youth safe. Our community-based responses support families and caregivers through value-based and strength-based approaches that minimize the involvement of formal systems.

The Nagijeung Abinoojiik Team Lead is responsible for the development, implementation, management, and supervision of Nagijeung Abinoojiik. The Team Lead assumes all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Centre's philosophy, direction, and policy standards, aligned with the goals, objectives, and priorities of the Nagijeung Abinoojiik Program. Proficient program development skills and experience are required.

Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience working with the Indigenous community, particularly in the North End and inner-city families in Winnipeg.
  • Proficient program development skills with a minimum of 2 years of developmental experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working in community development.
  • Strong understanding of community-based models of practice and 24-hour caring response.
  • Strong motivational and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, organizational, and consultative skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective use of computer software such as Microsoft Office and all social media platforms.
  • Strong proposal and report writing skills.
  • Responsible for reporting data.
  • Community service-oriented to effectively meet needs in a timely manner.
  • A team player who encourages an environment that fosters effective results.
  • Respectful engagement skills to build helping relationships.
  • Flexibility to respond effectively and positively in diverse relationships.
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines.
  • High level of independence and self-initiative.
  • Supervisory experience with the ability to support a small staff team.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is an asset.
  • Must submit criminal record check with vulnerable sector query, child abuse registry check, and be subject to prior contact check.
