Job description

Leon Cycle is seeking a Head of Operations to oversee our Operations in North America. We are looking for a strategic thinker, accountable for delivering measurable results that achieves and exceeds shipping deadlines, inventory forecasts/management, cost control, and quality control and targets overall success of all the operational management systems, processes, best practices, and warehouses within North America. They will direct and oversee all inbound/outbound operations as well as quality control and implementing policies and procedures that increase operational effectiveness.

This role will be remote to start and then at our office full time in Toronto.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage operational team responsible for all inbound and outbound shipments in Canada and US.
  • Develop and implement warehouse systems and shipping procedures.
  • Own all processes and communications with legal, business support, government officials, and 3PLs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with all department heads, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
  • Optimize all aspects of our business operations to ensure all teams are communicating effectively, deadlines understood and met, and cross-functional dependencies are minimized
  • Collaborate with Sales team to increase inventory turnover and decrease inventory days on hand.
  • Collaborate with 3PL and freight companies to plan deliveries and shipments, as well as updated contract rates to reduce shipping costs
  • Coordinate product inventory and storage within warehouses and other logistics sites to optimize efficient inventory movement
  • Optimize schedules for shipments and deliveries and maximize cost-effectiveness
  • Develop a strong team; coach, mentor and develop existing professionals
  • Participate in strategic planning as required by the CEO

Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years senior supply chain experience within the sports, sporting, consumer goods or e-mobility segment, preferably with startup company success
  • Experience with delivering Dangerous Goods and oversize packages
  • Undergraduate degree. Preferred MBA or Supply Chain focus
  • Proven track record of reducing operational costs in a fast-paced environment and exceeding organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated highly developed written (business and creative) and verbal communication skills, tact, assertiveness, and business acumen.
  • Hands on team player and motivational leader with the ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally to achieve optimal results.
  • Advanced leadership skills with ability to direct, coach, develop, facilitate and manage performance of direct reports.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong detail orientation, strong multitasking, and prioritization abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit coupled with the intellectual curiosity.
