Job summary

YRH in Vancouver is seeking an Electrical/Telecommunications RF Engineer for a hybrid role. You will design MW point-to-point links, create installation instructions, and supervise on-site MW deployments, ensuring performance and safety standards.

The job requires 3–6 years in RF, an electrical engineering degree, knowledge of Pathloss and measurement tools, and strong client communication. Expect travel within Metro Vancouver and broader BC/AB as projects demand.

Qualifications

Electrical technologist or engineering degree from an accredited institution.
Member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC asset considered.
3 to 6 years RF domain experience.
Knowledge of legacy and modern MW equipment (TDM, high-powered equipment, indoor installations).
Knowledge of RF lab and field installation/troubleshooting equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, RF Generator, VNA, RF Power Meter).
Experience in MW design and deployment issues.

Responsibilities

Design MW point-to-point links using Pathloss 5.1/6.
Create MW installation instructions per industry best practices.
On-site validation and supervision of MW installations.
Troubleshoot MW links and networks.
MW waveguide transmission line sweeps measurements.
Execute test cases in customer MW lab.
MW test results analysis and troubleshooting.
Communicate with client, partners, and equipment vendors.
Requirements definition and network analysis.
Simulations using InfoVista Planet, IBWave, Ekahau including propagation models and 4G/5G parameters.
Design passive/active DAS, small/micro/pico cells.
Link budgets, coverage and capacity planning for LTE/5G/Wi‑Fi.
Design private cellular networks for Industry 4.0 and critical infrastructure.
Create BOM, CAPEX/OPEX estimates for networks.
Draft specifications and performance estimates.
Selection and design of RF transmission sites.
Develop interconnection specifications.
Follow-up of network expertise and optimization.
Quality of service audits for DAS and small cell installations.
Cellular coverage and performance measurements - walk-test & drive-test.
