Position overview

Position title: Applied Music Pre-six Lecturer

Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $8,531-$10,492 (based on salary points 1-8). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.

Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned.

Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2024 through fall quarter 2025. Initial appointments outside this period will require an alternative open recruitment.

Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the academic year (fall, winter, spring), but may also include Summer Session.

Position description

The Department of Music at UCSC invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers to teach various courses at undergraduate and graduate levels. We seek candidates with relevant teaching experience who can provide individual & group music lessons on instruments including bassoon, oboe, flute, clarinet, saxophone, piano, harpsichord, classical guitar, voice, horn, trumpet, trombone, violin, viola, cello, bass, drum set, percussion, harp, and others as needed.

Applicants with college-level teaching experience or who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our programs are strongly encouraged to apply. Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications: Master's Degree in music or equivalent; or four years of artistic/creative work with a record of performances/exhibitions in music venues, museums, galleries, festivals, and evidence of scholarship in peer-reviewed journals, web, or books.
