Job summary

The City of St. Catharines is seeking a student to support public and educational programming for exhibitions, assist with summer events, and enhance education kits. This in-person 16-week role offers 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday, in St. Catharines, ON. You must be pursuing full-time studies and be eligible to work in Canada, ages 16–30.

Experience in education or event planning is a plus. The position provides competitive pay and benefits, including pension, with a wage of $22.95 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in full-time, post-secondary studies in fields related to concurrent education, political science, visual arts, history, geography, child & youth studies or museum studies and returning to full-time studies in the fall.
  • Returning to full-time studies in the fall with registrar confirmation may be required.
  • Experience in education and/or event planning is an asset.
  • Familiarity with public and educational programming in a museum setting is an asset.

What You’ll be Doing:
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, delivery and evaluation of public and educational programming for temporary and permanent exhibitions.
  • Assist with organizing key summer special events.
  • Enhance education kits.
  • Perform other similar and related tasks.
What’s Required:
  • Enrolled in full-time, post-secondary studies in the field of concurrent education, political science, visual arts, history, geography, child & youth studies or museum studies and returning to full-time studies in the fall, supporting confirmation letter from your Registrar’s Office will be required.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada, be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and be between the ages of 16-30 years.

  • Familiarity with public and educational programming in a museum setting is an asset.
  • Good organization and project management skills.
