Course Description: This course is an advanced study of selected vocal repertoire with attention to diction, historical and literary references, musical style and performance. The repertoire will change annually, and will be selected from French, Russian, German, Italian, Spanish, and English repertoire. Class performance and a working knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet are required. This position is for the last six weeks of the Fall term.

Class Schedule: Fridays 3-5pm

October to December 2025

Salary: $2,455.18

Qualifications: Graduate degree in performance or equivalent professional experience; demonstrated excellence with coaching vocal/pianistic collaboration in a wide array of repertoire, including opera. Demonstrated experience teaching voice and collaborative piano performance topics at the university level.

Duties: Define course objectives; prepare course materials; provide clear guidelines on course requirements and regulations; teach classes as scheduled; administer and evaluate student assignments; prepare and submit final grade in accordance with policy. Maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
