Position Details:

Job Overview: The Millwright/Plumber is responsible for the maintenance, reliability, and enhancement of all buildings, equipment, and assets owned or operated by the Municipality of Jasper. This position delivers professional trade-level service in plumbing and millwright duties, collaborating with the maintenance team to support asset management initiatives and continuously improve preventative and prescriptive maintenance. Acting as a key ambassador for the Municipality, the Millwright/Plumber demonstrates commitment to health and safety standards, provides support on specialized projects, and mentors trade apprentices. The start date of this position is as soon as possible.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct regular maintenance and repairs of building structures, mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and associated equipment.
  2. Diagnose and repair instrumentation controls and support improvements in facility automation and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  3. Support preventative/prescriptive maintenance planning and execution, performing daily inspections and identifying areas for repair or improvement.
  4. Create, review, and adhere to Safe Work Procedures (SWP) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOP).
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues, providing cost estimates and timelines for repairs.
  6. Manage parts inventory, hire contractors, and oversee their work to meet the Municipality’s standards.
  7. Participate in risk management and asset management initiatives.
  8. Conduct annual testing and inspection of gas-fired appliances, hydronic heating, and cooling systems.
  9. Perform maintenance on pumps, valves, controls, and other mechanical systems to ensure efficient operation.
  10. Assist with project management activities, including scope development, proposal assessment, and quality control.
  11. Participate in on-call and overtime shifts as required, including weekends and holidays.
  12. Communicate professionally with stakeholders, ensuring clear updates on project progress and status of assigned tasks.
  13. Collaborate with staff, contractors, and departments, providing training to apprentices and colleagues to enhance team performance.
  14. Pursue continuous professional development to stay current with industry best practices.

Position Requirements:

English Fluency Level required for position: Advanced

Qualifications & Experience:

Your resume and cover letter must clearly describe how you meet the following qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  1. Red Seal in Plumbing (preferred) or Millwright (considered).
  2. Gasfitter Class A or B certification.
  3. Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License.
  4. First Aid certification, including CPR and AED.
  5. WHMIS 2015 certification.

Preferred Assets:

  1. Red Seal or apprentice experience in related trades, such as Electrician, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, Steamfitter/Pipefitter.
  2. ABSA Power Engineer 5th Class certification (or higher).
  3. ARFP Pool Operator Level 1 or 2, ARFP Arena Operator Level 1 or 2.
  4. Training in Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, or 300.
