Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior to Intermediate Municipal Infrastructure Engineer or EIT with a minimum 3 years of experience to join our Municipal Infrastructure Services Group.

As a member of the Municipal Infrastructure Services Team, you will be a part of a group of professionals involved in the planning and design of linear infrastructure projects: roads, watermain, sanitary and storm systems, and associated works for municipal clients.

Role Specifics

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and/or participate in the production of contract drawings for roads, storm drainage systems and water and wastewater related linear infrastructure;
  • Undertake preliminary and detailed design activities;
  • Prepare technical memoranda, preliminary and detailed design reports;
  • Prepare technical specifications, special provisions, and forms of tender;
  • Review of quantity and cost estimates for completeness and accuracy;
  • Assist in proposal preparation including the development of work plans, schedules, and fee estimates for roads, storm systems and water and wastewater work components;
  • Liaise/coordinate with other disciplines/departments in preparation of reports, design packages, and proposals for multi-disciplinary projects;
  • Provide Contract Administration services during the construction of roads, storm drainage systems and water and wastewater linear infrastructure;
  • Work independently and as part of a team;
  • Actively engage in professional development and industry events;
Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered or pursuing Professional Engineer designation in Ontario.
  • 3+ years of experience in road design, storm drainage design and or water/wastewater linear infrastructure design.
  • Proficient in the use of desktop computational tools such as MS Office 365 including Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam and/or Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong technical report writing skills.
  • Well developed organizational, analytical problem solving, project management, presentation, business/technical writing, interpersonal, conflict resolution and customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills including ability to express thoughts clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of current municipal design criteria and construction practices and provincial, regional and municipal standards.
  • Working knowledge and application of Federal and Provincial regulations and requirements including but not limited to the Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications and Standard Drawings, Environmental Assessment Act, Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, and Endangered Species Act.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships with other consultants, employees, elected officials, agencies and members of the public.
  • Ability to work independently under minimum supervision.
