Job summary

Acadia Broadcasting is seeking a Multimedia News Reporter for Port Hawkesbury, NS. You’ll craft hyper-local stories, write for radio with an audio-friendly voice, and pitch daily ideas to shape coverage across platforms.

You’ll chase leads across town and timelines via phone, in-person, social media, and email, while joining a rotational weekend on-call schedule and contributing to a dynamic newsroom environment.

Qualifications

• Strong interviewing, writing, and editing skills for digital and broadcast.
• Solid understanding of the CP Style Guide.
• Self-starter who thrives under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
• Journalism or Digital Media diploma or equivalent experience.

Now, we're looking for a Multimedia News Reporter in Port Hawkesbury, N.S. who can bring energy, curiosity, and creativity to our audience every single day.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Crafting engaging, hyper-local stories for our community portals
• Writing for radio in a voice that’s conversational, clear, and made for audio
• Pitching and writing daily story ideas that help shape our coverage across every platform
• Chasing leads across town, across platforms, and across timelines - phone, in-person, social media, email… you’ll use it all
• Participating in our rotational weekend on-call schedule (because news doesn’t take days off)

Qualifications

• Strong interviewing, writing, and editing skills for both digital and broadcast
• Solid understanding of the CP Style Guide
• A self-starter who thrives under pressure and can meet tight deadlines - including breaking news outside the 9-to-5
• A Journalism or Digital Media diploma - or equivalent experience that proves you know your stuff
• Experience with newsroom software (Burli is a bonus!)
• A valid driver’s license (the news won't always come to you!)
