Position: Multimedia Journalist

The role:

Sault Ste Marie is looking for a multimedia journalist who can deliver well-crafted news and feature stories, take photographs and video and paginate print pages. This is a contract position under the federal government’s Local Journalism Initiative program.

Candidates will be required to:

  • Write and edit stories for print and our website.
  • Shoot, edit and appear in videos regularly.
  • Generate story/feature ideas.
  • Engage in energetic use of social media.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a journalism degree or diploma.
  • A reliable car and a valid driver's license are needed. There are regular weekend and night shifts.
  • Ability to edit videos using iMovie or Final Cut Express is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of social media, including Facebook and Twitter.
  • A working knowledge of WordPress is also an asset.

This is a union position and the recipient will become a member of CWA Local 30746 following the 90 day probation period.
