The Multidimensional Modelling of Hydrogen Value Chains project, hosted by Natural Resources Canada – CanmetENERGY Varennes, invites a Ph.D. level student to analyze and model full hydrogen value chains.
You will use advanced tools to assess techno-economic and environmental performance across production and end-use pathways. The position offers hybrid work with on-site presence in Varennes (QC) and some telework.

Salary
$29.64 to $38.38 per hour-It is expected that the student will work 25 hours per week at a rate of pay for students at a Doctorate level. The student should be paid the standard hourly rate based on their year and level of study (paid bi-weekly).

Duties
The transition to low-carbon energy systems requires an integrated understanding of hydrogen value chains, from production to end-use. This project aims to develop advanced analytical tools to assess the techno-economic and environmental performance of various hydrogen production and utilization pathways.The candidate will be responsible for analyzing and modelling complete hydrogen value chains, adopting a feedstock-agnostic approach (e.g., water, biomass, and other sources). The work will cover a wide range of existing, emerging, and under-development hydrogen production technologies.

The candidate will work closely with the CanmetENERGY’s Bio-Hydrogen team of Varennes in Quebec. The candidate will be required to attend team meetings, will produce reports presentations and potentially a scientific publication as part of this work. The work will be in hybrid mode i.e., partly on-site at the Varennes (QC) Research Centre and partly teleworking.
Intent of the process
This opportunity is for a duration of eight months geared towards a student who is completing their Ph.D. This duration may be extended for an additional eight months, if required.
