Job Description
  • Responsible for ongoing, proactive coverage of regional and local issues in the CTV Kitchener coverage area.
  • Present weather reports live and on tape across broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Book, gather, and produce community-focused content.
  • Utilize digital and social media platforms for content distribution.
  • Identify, research, investigate, gather, write, edit, interview, and report stories visually and aurally in live or taped programming throughout the CTV Kitchener coverage area.
  • Operate ENG equipment and accessories for news gathering.
  • Contact external organizations for background material.
  • Develop story ideas for inclusion in news shows.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Critical Qualifications
  • Strong writing, reporting, on-camera skills, proficiency in video journalism, and a proven track record for generating innovative story ideas.
  • Excellent on-air and social media presence with experience in live presentation and interacting well on camera and off.
  • Ability to ad lib, interview, and go off prompter as needed.
  • Strong on-air and communication skills, especially in breaking news coverage.
  • Experience in anchoring, producing, and assignment desk operations.
  • Knowledge of Waterloo Region and Southwestern Ontario (history, geography, political and socio-economic conditions).
  • Experience operating ENG equipment and non-linear editing.
  • Practical knowledge of WSI, Microsoft Office, and iNEWS.
  • A valid G class driver’s license with a good driving record.
Hours of Work

Hours vary based on operational needs and may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
