eBay is seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff (Database Engineering) for their Data Infrastructure organization, which builds and runs a petabyte-scale core data platform supporting large-scale database, storage, caching, and media infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to architect, build, and operate the next-generation distributed database and storage platform powering some of the most critical systems in eBay’s global ecommerce business. You will be responsible for scaling eBay’s core data infrastructure by collaborating with engineers, customers, business partners, and product managers.

What you will do :

  • Design, develop, and deploy robust and scalable software applications and tools for the Database Engineering team.
  • Build and implement new experiences, improve existing products, and develop new tools supporting the infrastructure of the world’s largest e-commerce website.
  • Collaborate with the Database Engineering team to understand requirements, formulate use cases, and deliver results.
  • Estimate engineering efforts, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and triage production issues related to tools.
  • Translate abstract concepts into viable products using Java, Python, Go, or Perl fundamentals. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas to the team.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively seek opportunities for process improvement, growth, and innovation.

What you will bring :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 10+ years of experience or MS in Computer Science with hands-on programming experience.
  • A strong foundation in computer science, with competencies in coding and adapting to new technologies.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting and performing unit testing on both new and legacy production systems.
  • Proficiency in programming and problem diagnosis and resolution.
