About The Team And Role

We are the eBay Ads team, and we are reinventing advertising at eBay! We’re creating innovative ad-tech solutions to optimize ad monetization and experience on eBay. Our goal is to build a valuable experience for both buyers and sellers, while also driving performance through Ads.

We are innovating rapidly in the ad-tech space, presenting new challenges for motivated individuals.

As a staff software engineer, you will work closely with designers, product managers, and other specialists (frontend, backend, native, machine learning, quality) to redefine the advertising space for eBay and beyond.

What You Will Accomplish

• Design cross data center distributed, fault-tolerant, highly available, and performant web services and applications using software architecture principles and analytical skills.
• Own major projects from design to deployment and support.
• Estimate effort, plan implementation, and mitigate technical risks.

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science with 6-8+ years of experience.
• Experience in developing large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency with Java and/or Scala, relational databases (e.g., Oracle), NoSQL, and Kafka.
• Ability to build RESTful applications.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, multithreading, synchronization, design patterns, REST, JSON, and internet protocols.
• Experience with Node.js, JavaScript, GraphQL, and building GraphQL APIs is desirable.
