Job summary

Main Street Project seeks a Youth Community Green Team Coordinator to lead beautification efforts along Main Street, Martha Street and Henry Avenue. The role emphasizes building systems for waste collection, and engaging partners to foster area pride.

Position involves outdoor physical work, coordinating volunteers, and implementing community-guided projects under the supervision of the Director of Operations. Term ends 2027-03-31, 10+ hours weekly, 18 CAD/hour.

Qualifications

• Must be youth aged 18-29 years and a Manitoba resident legally allowed to work in Canada.
• Ability to perform physical work, outdoors, lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry checks required.
• Valid Driver's License is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Oversee outdoor beautification and cleanup for Main Street, Martha Street and Henry Avenue.
• Litter control, window washing, light painting, and light maintenance.
• Indoor/outdoor garden planting, watering, maintenance, and harvesting.
• Coordinate seating, lighting, and small community installations as directed.
• Work with community partners and be supervised by the onsite Director of Operations.

TITLE: MSP Community Green Team Coordinator

DURATION: term till March 31, 2027

LOCATION: 661 Main Street

DEPARTMENT: Facilities

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

DIRECT REPORTS: Volunteers

STATUS: Exempt

WAGE: $18 per hour

HOURS: Minimum of 10 hours a week with more casual hours

POSITION SUMMARY

These positions are responsible for the beautification of Main Street, Martha Street, and Henry Avenue area. The work would be to not only clean the area but to develop systems to keep the area clean, like developing proper trash collection with partners in the area, ensuring the proper waste receptacles are in the area and working with the broader community to get people to take pride in the area.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Main Street Project has 7 community-use facilities making up its "campus" that are highly utilized and visible to the public based on their street-facing locations. They all require outdoor upkeep and beautification including:

• Litter control


• Window washing


• Light painting


• Light building maintenance


• Indoor/Outdoor Garden planting, watering, maintenance, harvesting


• Other community-guided small-scale projects such as seating, lighting, cultural or recreational installations, to be determined


• Work will be guided by the community and neighborhood partners, and supervised by Main Street Project onsite Director of Operations

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATONS

• Based on the funding requirements for this position, applicants must be youth aged 18-29 years and a Manitoba resident who is legally entitled to work in Canada.


• Experience working or volunteering with community organizations, individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health related issues, or with those living in poverty is an asset.


• Ability to perform physical work, including working in outdoor elements and lifting up to 50 lbs. unaided is required.


• Ability to communicate effectively with community members, volunteers and co-workers.


• Ability to work well under stressful conditions, negotiate different personalities and work under competing priorities while managing a wide variety of tasks.


• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Clear Vulnerable Sector Search and Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check required.


• Valid Driver's License is an asset.
