Position: MRI Technologist

Site: Mississauga Hospital (Must be able to work at all three sites as assigned. The Hospital retains the right to change assigned work location to any other THP site either permanently or temporarily based on operational needs. As part of our commitment to flexibility and growth, you may be required to cross-train in at least one other modality to support operational needs across THP)
Hours of Work/Shift: Available to work all shifts (8 hour shifts) including Weekends plus calls

Qualifications:

An integral member of the Diagnostic Imaging department, MRI technologist responsibilities include:

  • Performing MRI exams as outlined in the MRI procedure manual;
  • Operating, troubleshooting, and ensuring that medical imaging and ancillary equipment are performing effectively and efficiently;
  • Completing all clerical aspects of exam completion;
  • Training of students and new technologists;
  • Continuing education as required by associations and needs of the department;
  • All patient care responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care;
  • Observing and understanding hospital visions and values of teamwork, integrity, excellence, customer-focus, and innovation while maintaining patient confidentiality;
  • Performing cross-functional responsibilities as assigned or requested;
  • Performing other duties related to the job classification, as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures as outlined in MRI procedure Manual;
  • Utilizes technical/medical judgement/knowledge to evaluate image quality, and adjusts accordingly;
  • Ensures proper screening procedure for patient and anyone else entering magnet room;
  • Assesses the patient’s condition prior to, during, and after procedures; maintains awareness of procedural complications and reactions during and after procedures; recognizes the conditions requiring immediate attention and initiates appropriate response; documents procedures to ensure precise and accurate procedural records are maintained;
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Completion of MRI Certification Exam required;
  • Contrast injection course required;
  • Registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologist of Ontario (CMRITO) required;
  • Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist (CAMRT) is an asset;
  • Experience with Siemens MRI is considered an asset.
