The MRB - MAP Stress Engineer will be responsible for providing structural substantiation and engineering approvals for rework and repairs on aircraft structures during final assembly. This role requires hands-on experience with static, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis and the ability to provide quick, accurate assessments for MRB activities. The engineer will support both metallic and composite structures, collaborating closely with Liaison Engineers and offsite Stress teams to ensure structural integrity and airworthiness.

Key Responsibilities

MRB Stress Analysis & Approvals

  • Evaluate and approve Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions related to structural rework and repairs during aircraft final assembly.
  • Provide technical justifications for:
  • Acceptance of defects without repair
  • Rework to restore strength equivalency
  • Removal and replacement of damaged components
  • Ensure substantiations meet static, fatigue, and damage tolerance requirements.

Technical Documentation & Collaboration

  • Work closely with Liaison Engineers to deliver timely and accurate stress substantiations.
  • Coordinate with offsite Stress Engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Document analyses in formal stress reports and work files in compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

Structural Engineering Support

  • Provide technical expertise to support aircraft delivery teams and customer support groups.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing across Final Assembly Line (FAL) sites to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in stress substantiation processes and tools.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in stress engineering.
  • Prior MRB or MAP experience on commercial or business aircraft.
  • Familiarity with metallic and composite structural materials and analysis.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong foundation in static, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis.
  • Hands-on experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using NASTRAN, PATRAN, HYPERMESH.
  • Working knowledge of CATIA V5 for interfacing with design data.
  • Proficiency in NASGRO for crack growth and damage tolerance assessments.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (including VBA scripting).

Soft Skills

  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing to team success.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual (French and English) is a strong asset.
