Job Summary

Mountain Adventures Guides oversee daily operations of adventure activities such as Mountain Ziplines and the Mountain Ropes Adventure. They gear up guests, provide safety briefings, and guide them through their two-hour experiences, ensuring memorable visits for all visitors.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Guide tours safely and engagingly, sharing information about Grouse Mountain and its surroundings.
  2. Perform daily inspections of equipment and safety gear, reporting hazards or malfunctions.
  3. Check-in guests, process retail and activity sales to enhance guest experience.
  4. Monitor activities for risk management, intervening as necessary according to policies.
  5. Ensure guests enjoy safe, positive, and enriching experiences exceeding expectations.
  6. Demonstrate and assist guests with safety equipment use, ensuring proper fit and adherence to safety rules.
  7. Promote Mountain Adventures activities and other Grouse Mountain products and services.
  8. Complete daily reports, checklists, and maintain cleanliness of facilities and equipment.
Supervisory Responsibility

This role reports to the Manager, Rentals and Mountain Adventures, with no direct supervisory duties.

Required Qualifications and Abilities
  1. Secondary school completion preferred.
  2. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and at least 3 days per week in July and August.
  3. Experience in group leading, public speaking, or tour guiding is an asset.
  4. First-aid certification is an asset.
  5. Ability to complete paperwork, including liability waivers, accurately.
  6. Comfort with working at heights and understanding safety requirements.
  7. Physical ability to meet job requirements and operate in all weather conditions.
  8. Experience in customer service or adventure tourism is beneficial.
  9. Effective communication skills with diverse groups and individuals.
  10. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  11. Completion of area-specific training and passing a written test required.
Working Conditions

Guides work outdoors in various weather conditions, with hours depending on weather and business needs. Flexibility for shifts, including weekends and holidays, is necessary. The role involves standing for extended periods.
