About The Alpine Club Of Canada

The ACC is a not-for-profit organization established in 1906 that has grown to include 33 backcountry huts and 25 volunteer-run sections across the country. We organize seasonal programs such as our annual General Mountaineering Camp, Shadow Lake Lodge, and our hostel in Canmore. With a rich history in Canadian Mountaineering, we have a dynamic team at the office managing diverse portfolios.

Job Overview

The Mountain Adventures Coordinator (MAC) reports to the Programs Manager within the Programs and Services Group. The MAC's primary focus is to generate revenue by providing high-quality mountain experiences and training to ACC members, section leaders, and the wider mountain community. Responsibilities include planning and coordinating seasonal courses and trips, program development, and fostering community culture. Collaboration with ACC personnel, partners, and committees is essential for successful program execution.

This full-time position (37.5 hours/week, Mon-Fri) offers a comprehensive benefits plan after a 3-month probation. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required. The role is based at the ACC Clubhouse in Canmore, AB, and cannot be performed remotely.

  • Hire and manage contractors for seasonal programs
  • Collect necessary certifications and permits for contractors
  • Order materials and supplies for camps and courses
  • Host virtual staff training sessions
  • Schedule and facilitate pre-trip meetings
  • Apply for grants for adventure programs
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Manage registrations, sales, and office administration
  • Prepare camp materials and communicate updates to staff
  • Procure equipment and perform safety checks
  • Develop new program proposals and represent ACC at community events
  • Update program information on the website and in communications
  • Create seasonal schedules and support field staff
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory permits
  • Coordinate logistics for supplies and materials across BC and AB
