Job summary

Predator Drilling Inc. is seeking a reliable, safety-focused Motorhand to join our drilling operations. You will monitor, maintain, and repair engines, generators, pumps, and other mechanical systems, working closely with the crew to keep the rig operating safely and efficiently.

You will identify issues early, perform preventative maintenance, and uphold strict safety standards in a demanding environment. A valid driver’s licence and current safety certifications are assets.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Motorhand on an oilfield drilling rig is required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are expected.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, generators, pumps and hydraulics is essential.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
  • Ability to identify issues and act to prevent downtime.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a close-knit crew.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding, safety-sensitive environment.
  • Current safety certifications or willingness to obtain (H2S, First Aid/CPR, Confined Space) are assets.
  • Valid driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair rig engines, generators, pumps, and mechanical systems.
  • Work closely with Driller, Rig Manager, Derrickhand and crew to keep rig operating safely and efficiently.
  • Identify hazards and equipment concerns and take action to prevent failures and downtime.
  • Follow safety analyses, hazard assessments, lockout/tagout, permit requirements, spill prevention, and emergency protocols.

Job description

Predator Drilling is looking for a reliable, safety-focused, and mechanically minded Motorhand to join our drilling operations.

The Motorhand plays a critical role in keeping the rig operating safely and efficiently. Working closely with the Driller, Rig Manager, Derrickhand, and other crew members, the Motorhand is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the rig's engines, generators, pumps, and other mechanical systems.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, is mechanically capable, and understands the importance of equipment reliability and preventative maintenance.

What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience working as a Motorhand on an oilfield drilling rig.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, generators, pumps, hydraulics, and drilling rig equipment.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
  • Ability to identify equipment issues and take appropriate action before they result in significant downtime.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a close-knit crew.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced, and safety-sensitive environment.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Current safety certifications such as H2S, First Aid/CPR, and Confined Space are considered an asset.
