Job summary

Predator Drilling Inc. is seeking a reliable Derrickhand to join our Alberta drilling operations.

The role focuses on supporting safe and efficient drilling by working closely with the Driller and rig crew, operating mud pumps and mud systems, and assisting with pipe handling and tripping operations. The ideal candidate is mechanically minded, dependable, safety-focused, and willing to take ownership of responsibilities while contributing to a tight-knit crew environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Derrickhand on an oilfield drilling rig
  • Knowledge of drilling rig operations and procedures
  • Experience operating and maintaining mud pumps and mud systems
  • Ability to work at heights and in the derrick
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Understand pipe handling, tripping, and drilling equipment
  • Follow instructions and work under the Driller's supervision
  • Strong communication and teamwork
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Commitment to safety and environmental responsibility
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Current safety certifications (H2S, First Aid/CPR, Confined Space) are assets

Responsibilities

  • Support safe and efficient drilling operations by working with the Driller and rig crew
  • Operate and monitor the mud system
  • Assist with pipe handling and tripping operations
  • Maintain critical rig equipment
  • Lead by safety and follow job safety analyses, hazard assessments, lockout/tagout and permit procedures
  • Maintain constant awareness of surroundings and communicate hazards to crew

Job description

Predator Drilling is looking for a reliable, safety-focused, and experienced Derrickhand to join our drilling operations.

The Derrickhand plays an important role in supporting safe and efficient drilling operations by working closely with the Driller and rig crew, operating and monitoring the mud system, assisting with pipe handling and tripping operations, and maintaining critical rig equipment.

We are looking for someone who is mechanically minded, dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to take ownership of their responsibilities while contributing to a strong, close-knit crew environment.

What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience working as a Derrickhand on an oilfield drilling rig.
  • Strong knowledge of drilling rig operations and procedures.
  • Experience operating and maintaining mud pumps and mud systems.
  • Comfortable working at heights and performing work in the derrick.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good understanding of pipe handling, tripping operations, and drilling equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under the direction of the Driller.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a physically demanding environment.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Current safety certifications such as H2S, First Aid/CPR, and Confined Space are considered an asset.
