MONTREAL [Hybrid] - Network Security Engineer
Overview
You will be part of a global infrastructure team responsible for supporting, securing, and evolving the client’s enterprise network. This role combines Level 2 / 3 operational support with project involvement across local and global teams, covering applications, infrastructure, governance, and client-facing initiatives. Working in an Agile (Scrum) environment, you will play a key role in incident management, change delivery, operational improvement, and network automation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 / 3 operational support for network security and infrastructure.
- Monitor and troubleshoot incidents during business hours, including daily morning checks and reporting.
- Participate in on-call rotations during evenings and weekends (approx. once per month).
- Lead or support infrastructure and security projects, ensuring alignment with global standards.
- Manage and prioritize daily requests, incidents, problems, and changes, including peer reviews and off-hours change implementation.
- Support incident detection, escalation, communication, and resolution, minimizing business disruption.
- Contribute to operational process improvements and documentation updates.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders across application, infrastructure, governance, and client teams.
- Participate in network automation and scripting initiatives to reduce manual operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in networking and network security operations.
- Expertise in firewall operations (Fortinet, Checkpoint).
- Strong knowledge of internet services and protocols, web proxy technologies, and VPN (remote and site-to-site).
- Experience with load balancers (NetScaler, F5).
- Understanding of network security standards and ITIL best practices.
- Bonus: exposure to network automation, DevOps practices, Unix system management, and Cisco switching / routing (BGP, OSPF, VPC, traffic engineering).
- Scripting skills (Python, Ansible, or similar) are a strong asset.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in data networking and / or network security operations.
- Prior work in exchange or investment banking environments is highly desired.
- Proven ability to deliver both operational support and project-based work in a complex, regulated industry.
- Strong operational discipline with the capacity to prioritize multiple requests and incidents.
- Adaptability to dynamic environments and changing circumstances.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with international teams.
- Hybrid model: 3 days per week on-site in Montreal.
- Candidate must be based in Montreal or willing to relocate.
- On-site interviews are required at the client’s office.
- Participation in a global follow-the-sun support model, with overnight and weekend coverage as needed.
