Job description

Overview

The Monitor Technician is responsible for monitoring patient's cardiac rhythms accurately and identifying and initiating appropriate actions should ECG pattern change on a monitor screen.

Responsibilities

Identifies patient cardiac rhythm as observed on a monitoring device.

Initiates appropriate action should ECG pattern change.

Runs permanent rhythm strip when appropriate.

Informs nurse in charge of pattern changes when appropriate.

Identifies rhythm strip as to patient name, rate, time, and interval readings.

Performs all clerical work as assigned.

Maintains work area in a clean, safe and orderly manner.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Successful completion of 20-hour ARH course in Basic DysrhythmiaRecognition.

One (1) month to three (3) months on-the-job training to attain proficiency of performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
