Description

Our client is actively seeking a MongoDB administrator responsible for evaluating, reviewing, and managing database resources and services across the organization to ensure high database integrity. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building robust database infrastructure in collaboration with peer teams and vendors. They will also develop and enforce database standards while providing expert guidance to ensure team success.

This role requires an individual capable of working independently on diverse projects, engaging with development teams, business analysts, IS management, and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business and technology goals.

Responsibilities:

1. Deploy and maintain MongoDB/MongoDB Atlas databases and projects.
2. Automate tasks using Python scripting.
3. Document database design, architecture, and setup procedures.
4. Establish backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
5. Administer MongoDB for optimal availability and performance.
6. Design and implement sharding and indexing strategies.
7. Configure and monitor replica sets.
8. Perform patch upgrades.
9. Build and automate operational infrastructure supporting databases.
10. Implement security procedures, manage users, roles, and permissions.
11. Stay updated on industry trends and standards.
12. Support users via incident and problem management tools.

Qualifications:

• 3-4 years of experience with MongoDB and MongoDB Atlas in enterprise environments.
• Experience with DevOps tools such as Python, Ansible, Azure DevOps, GitHub.
• Strong knowledge of high availability, sharding, and disaster recovery architectures.
• Experience designing data ingestion strategies for large datasets.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
• Availability for off-hours support, including weekends and holidays, on a rotational basis.
• Proficiency in deploying databases on Linux virtual machines.
• Experience with cloud environments like Azure and AWS.

Day-to-day Tasks:

• Cluster deployment.
• API integrations.
• Major and minor patch upgrades.
• Database management tasks such as user creation, permissions, backups, and restores on S3 and on-premises.

Additional Details:

• Experience level: Intermediate.
• Compensation: $6,552 - $8,200 per hour.
• Workplace: Hybrid in Montréal, QC.
