JOB PURPOSE

To collaboratively participate in the planning and delivery of total nursing care to meet individual patient needs in accordance with the philosophy, objectives, and policies of the Neuro Rehab and Surgery programs. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, provides quality patient care within the scope of professional nursing practice to patients and families on the 4100 Neuro Unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an approved school for Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Must be currently registered with the N.B. Association of Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Ability to function within the recognized scope of practice for LPN (ONTRACC competencies)
  • Possesses the medical/surgical nursing knowledge and clinical skills/expertise necessary to provide care.
  • Be willing to obtain and maintain competency in the nursing care of patients requiring:
    • PN - parental nutrition
    • CVAD line - central venous access device
    • Accessing/de-accessing Port-a-caths and Hickman lines within three (3) months
    • Wound vac application and maintenance
    • Care of the dying and family care
    • Pain management courses
  • Other competencies as necessary
