A manufacturing leader in Ontario is seeking an Injection Molding Process Technician to optimize production and lead operations. Job description

As a member of the ZF Lifetec Midland Engineering Department, the Injection Molding Process Technician will ensure efficient production of high quality injection molded parts. They will be responsible for running, maintaining and optimizing the complete molding system and for leading continuous improvement. This is an onsite position.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):

  • Responsible for the set-up, continual operation and shutdown of molding systems, cell start up, tool and color change overs
  • Troubleshoot and document machine, mold and automation and part quality issues
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks
  • Recommend, participate in, and implement continuous improvement and proactive initiatives including department CIS projects
  • Process optimization for efficiency, product quality and waste reduction
  • Complete daily reporting, audits, work assignments and schedules and communicate these with expectations to prior and oncoming shifts
  • Review production processes and maintain required documentation
  • Ensure all job functions adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations
  • Lead, supervise and provide technical support to operators, oversee new hire evaluations and training while upholding 5S principles and quality standards

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Previous manufacturing experience is a must, automotive is preferred
  • Familiar with overhead crane operation
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding systems, setup and processes. Additional experience with automation and quality control would be a bonus
  • Ability to recognize safety, quality or system issues early
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and able to use schematics and blueprints for troubleshooting and setup
  • Leadership qualities: Supervisor experience, interpersonal and people management skills, ability to communicate clearly and concisely with management
  • Reliable, eager to learn, hardworking and efficient with attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively both, within a team and independently
  • Good computer skills: Microsoft Office apps especially using and developing excel data sheets and presentations

Education

  • Mechanical Technician Certificate or equivalent, supervisory experience a plus
  • RJG or injection molding training would be a bonus
