Job summary

Plasman is seeking a skilled Mold Maker for our Windsor Tooling team. The role involves contributing to all aspects of the tool build process under the Mold Maker Supervisor, meeting cost, quality and delivery requirements.

You will operate machinery, read prints, and support daily line-ups while ensuring safety and accuracy in tool fabrication. The position offers long-term growth in a global automotive manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Five years of work experience as a Mold Maker.
• Strong spotting skills to detect fit/alignment/surface issues for high-quality mold function.
• Solid understanding of tool processes and manufacturing workflows.
• Knowledge of plastic part manufacturing and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned tool build tasks and repairs as directed by the Mold Maker Supervisor.
• Follow daily line up to meet timelines and production goals.
• Safely operate required machinery, presses and equipment.
• Read and understand basic part prints for accurate builds.
• Square small components and verify dimensions to tolerances.
• Grind core pins and finish details to customer specs.
• Test water systems in blocks and ensure functionality.
• Ensure proper placement of components and tools for assembly.
• Troubleshoot tooling during builds and tryouts as needed.
• Participate in plant communication meetings and report progress.
• Accurately complete daily time tickets for costing and labour hours.

Mold Maker

The Mold Maker is responsible for participating in all activities of the tool build process as assigned by the Mold Maker Supervisor in accordance with cost, quality and delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• The Mold Maker is responsible for completing assigned tasks related to tool builds, repairs, engineering changes, as directed by the Mold Maker Supervisor.

• Completing tasks as per daily line up from Mold Maker Supervisor in order to meet assigned timelines.

• Ability to safely operate all required machinery, presses and equipment in order to complete tasks as assigned.

• Reading and understanding basic part prints.

• Ability to square small components including water detail.

• Grinding core pin detail to customer tolerance.

• Plugging and testing water system in blocks.

• Accurately spot components and tools

• Plumbing hydraulic systems on molds.

• Properly sizing and fitting slides.

• Trouble shooting during tool build and/or tryouts as necessary.

• Attending and participating in plant communication meetings.

• Accurately completes activities for all first tryout activities as assigned.

• Accurate and timely completion of daily time tickets for job costing and labour hours.

• To follow organizational codes, values, policies, practices, procedures and instructions in the areas of quality, environment health & safety, security and business operations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience We're Looking For

• The successful candidate must possess strong spotting skills, including the ability to detect and correct fit, alignment, and surface issues to ensure high-quality mold function.

• Five (5) years' work experience as a Mold Maker.

• Strong understanding of tool process

• Sound knowledge of plastic part manufacturing and tooling
