Hatch is seeking a Global Mobility Immigration Specialist to join our office in Mississauga. This role offers an excellent career opportunity for a dynamic individual interested in advancing their career with a global company. The specialist will work within the Global Mobility team, providing advanced expertise in Canadian and US immigration, and offering highly specialized advice for the Canadian and US regions. The role involves ensuring compliance and consistency across continents and contributing to the development of the Mobility practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work with outside legal counsel to secure appropriate work permits and authorizations for foreign national workers.
  2. Provide expertise on USMCA/CUSMA (and other) work permit matters, including Canadian and US Intracompany transfers, with a basic understanding of Canadian LMIA processes.
  3. Coordinate the collection of necessary information and documentation for USMCA/CUSMA work permits.
  4. Maintain immigration records in full compliance with legislative frameworks.
  5. Monitor immigration applications for compliance with laws.
  6. Develop and suggest immigration policy frameworks for Hatch.
  7. Provide strategic direction and guidance to the Global Mobility team.
  8. Review and recommend improvements to immigration processes for efficiency and employee experience.
  9. Educate and train hiring managers, HR colleagues, and staffing/recruiting teams on USMCA work permit classifications and onboarding timelines.
  10. Stay updated on immigration law changes.
  11. Coordinate between HR, foreign employees, legal counsel, and managers.
  12. Review and sign paperwork as prepared.
  13. Maintain appropriate records, files, and databases for the region.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • 5-7 years of US and Canadian immigration experience in industry or a corporate setting.
  • Strong attention to detail, research skills, and quick learning ability.
  • Business administration degree or law clerk diploma is an asset.
  • Qualifications as a lawyer, paralegal, Quebec notary, or Immigration Consultant (membership in good standing) are assets.
  • Understanding of project lifecycle and environment.
  • Client-focused with confidentiality and service orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and exercise initiative.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Negotiation and issue-resolution skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Proactive problem-solving and process improvement skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel; valid driver’s license required.
