Summary

As our Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, you will oversee and coordinate mobile maintenance operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective equipment performance in alignment with operational goals. Lead and develop the maintenance team through safety audits, task assignments, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

About Us

The Keno Hill mine, located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Keno Hill, is one of the highest-grade silver districts in the world, is situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. It comprises 242 square kilometres (km2) with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical past-producing mine sites. Keno Hill is expected to produce 2.7-3.1 million ounces of silver in 2025 as the mine ramps up production.

The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Here’s What You Can Expect In This Role

  • Coordinate mobile maintenance activities in conjunction with the Mobile Maintenance Planners to achieve operational requirements in a cost effective, safe, and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Audit the team for proper safety practices including housekeeping, PPE, Lock Out, equipment pre ops, following standards/procedures.
  • Review departmental and companywide safety communications with the team.
  • Utilize the JHA Process to identify/control hazards and develop save working procedures.
  • Assign daily job tasks to maintenance and contract personnel.
  • Conduct regular performance assessments of maintenance personnel.
  • Develop the team through training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Ensure daily availability and utilization data is entered in a timely fashion and available in a dashboard format for review.
  • Control departmental cost/labour in line with mobile equipment maintenance budget.
  • Suggest continuous improvement plans to increase safety and efficiency while reducing operating costs.
  • In conjunction with the Mine Operations, Site Services and Planners, coordinate. planning/scheduling and generation of mobile maintenance work orders.
  • Generate, update, audit and adhere to all PM programs and maintenance strategies
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • You will help to promote a strong environmental culture, promoting and teaching environmentally friendly values and work practices.
  • You will help to foster a strong safety culture, promoting and exemplifying safe work practices throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Red Seal certification is required.
  • 5-10 years of varied maintenance experience within the mining industry, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in similar heavy industrial sites is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and other CMMS software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with other departments and suppliers.
  • Strong working knowledge of various maintenance CMMS programs and maintenance workflow.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • Pre-Employment Testing (drug & alcohol, blood lead, and audiogram)
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract

Safety, Health, Environmental Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Participating in safety initiatives.
  • Receiving training and instruction as required.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping standards

Work Environment

Employees will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including snow and ice, as well as extreme temperatures ranging from cold to heat. The work environment may involve contact with potentially hazardous wildlife, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the use of explosives. There is also a risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration. Noise levels can occasionally be loud, depending on the task or location on site.

Work Location & Schedule

This is a fly-in fly-out position based at a remote mining camp, operating on a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off. Camp accommodations and meals are provided while on site. All travel to and from the mine site is arranged through a designated travel agency and coordinated from approved flight hubs.

To ensure efficient travel logistics, we are primarily seeking candidates who reside in the Yukon, British Columbia, and Alberta, particularly near major transportation centers within these regions.
