LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is seeking a responsible and patient-oriented individual to join our team in the lower mainland, BC as a Laboratory Assistant for our Mobile Lab Services team.

Our Mobile Laboratory Assistants play an important part in on-site patient care at locations including private homes, commercial facilities, and long-term care facilities. This active and rewarding role allows you to build relationships with patients and see the impact of your work on their lives and healthcare outcomes.

This is a temporary full-time regular mobile laboratory float position for the LOWER MAINLAND until 02/28/2025. Varying hours Monday to Friday, 0500 AM - 1600 PM.

There is a possibility of extension for this role.

Your responsibilities will include :

  1. Organizing daily schedules of visits to facilities and private residences to collect specimens as per physicians’ requests, planning routes based on courier times, specimen integrity, and travel time.
  2. Performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting Holter monitors, and performing ECG tracings.
  3. Collecting and delivering specimens to designated labs for testing, including accessioning, spinning, separating, and preparing for transport.
  4. Booking patient appointments, requesting necessary information, explaining specimen collection procedures, and ensuring patients follow test protocols.
  5. Liaising with doctors and facility staff regarding patient issues, scheduling changes, and specimen procedures.
  6. Covid-19 vaccinations and a booster shot are required for this role.

LifeLabs seeks an empathetic and adaptable individual who can deliver exceptional customer service and relate to patients, even in stressful situations. Requirements include :

  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and access to a vehicle.
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check.
  • Excellent communication skills to relate with diverse individuals.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly.
  • Ability to maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality standards.

Hiring Range : $26.43 - $31.46

The final salary will be determined based on experience, education, market conditions, and internal equity.
