Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a Mobile Service Mechanic to maintain our fleet including tractors, loaders, graders, and trucks at the Ashfield/Judique zone. You will perform repairs, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance to ensure road infrastructure remains safe and reliable.

We provide PPE, tooling allowances, and opportunities for professional certification; on-call duties apply beyond standard hours to keep essential equipment running.

Qualifications

• Some high school completed with a Red Seal in Truck and Transport.
• Minimum five years of diversified mechanical experience.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license required; Air Brake endorsement considered an asset.
• Air Conditioning Certification and MV Inspection license assets considered.
• Knowledge of diagnostic tech, electrical schematics and engine programs assets.

Responsibilities

• Repair, rebuild and adjust fleet equipment and diagnose malfunctions.
• Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize breakdowns.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Be on-call outside regular hours when equipment is down.
