The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of ML / TQM Compression Operations Engineering in Canada Gas, the Operations Engineer will support the operation and reliability of compressor station assets within a designated geographic area and across the broader system. You will be part of a high-performing multidisciplinary team, collaborating with experienced engineers, field specialists, and commercial operations.

  • This role is field-based in the Winnipeg area.

What you'll do

  1. Gather data and perform engineering analysis for issue resolution, facility health assessments, root cause analysis, and risk assessments.
  2. Provide troubleshooting support for field operations, including site visits to resolve issues alongside senior specialists and engineers.
  3. Analyze operational and engineering data to identify issues and opportunities for improving equipment reliability and maintenance.
  4. Lead treatment plans to reduce asset and system risks.
  5. Conduct root cause analysis discussions for equipment failures and support corrective action development.
  6. Assist with operational support for ongoing capital projects to ensure risks are managed.
  7. Develop scopes for MOCs, internal designs, and implementations.
  8. Create engineering justifications for technical recommendations on projects and solutions.
  9. Perform fit-for-service and engineering assessments.
  10. Support TOPs development and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. University degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
  2. Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in good standing.
  3. At least 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
  4. Ability to initiate change and help others adapt to evolving environments.
  5. Proven capability to develop technical solutions for complex problems.
  6. Knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards.
  7. Adaptability to changing business priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Troubleshooting skills and familiarity with facility operations.
  2. Experience with failure investigation and root cause analysis.
  3. Knowledge of standards related to equipment reliability, safety, and risk management.
  4. Strong time management skills and ability to work independently, including at field locations.
  5. Experience with maintenance processes and system development.

This position requires candidates to:

  1. Maintain a valid driver’s license and provide a driving record.
  2. Be willing to stay overnight away from home, including living in company camps or housing (approximately 30% of the time).
  3. Support a hybrid work model and flexible dress code.
  4. Relocation eligibility: This position qualifies for our domestic relocation program.
