The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of ML / TQM Compression Operations Engineering in Canada Gas, the Operations Engineer will be assigned a geographic area to support the operation and reliability of compressor station facility assets within their geo-area and broader system-wide. You will join a high-performing multidisciplinary team and liaise with experienced engineers, field specialists, and commercial operations.

  • Role is field-based in Winnipeg area

What you'll do

  • Conduct data gathering and engineering analysis for issue resolution, facility health assessments, root cause analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Provide field operations troubleshooting support for new and ongoing issues, including site visits to troubleshoot with senior reliability specialists and engineers.
  • Evaluate/trend operational and engineering data to identify issues and opportunities for improving equipment reliability and maintenance.
  • Lead treatment plan actions to support asset and system risk reduction.
  • Conduct root cause analysis discussions for equipment failures and support the development of corrective actions.
  • Provide operational support for ongoing capital projects to ensure risks are adequately mitigated.
  • Complete scope development for MOCs, internal design, and implementation.
  • Create engineering justifications to provide technical recommendations on project needs, solutions, and alternatives.
  • Complete fit-for-service and engineering assessments.
  • Support TOPs development and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in good standing.
  • At least 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a changing environment.
  • Proven ability to develop technical solutions for complex problems.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Troubleshooting skills and familiarity with facility operations.
  • Experience with failure investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of norms and standards related to equipment reliability, safety, and risk management.
  • Time management skills and ability to work independently, including at field locations.
  • Experience with maintenance processes and system development.

This position requires candidates to :

  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and provide a driver’s record for review.
  • Stay away from home base overnight, including living in and maintaining company camps or housing (30% of the time).
  • Support a hybrid work model and flexible dress code.
  • Relocation eligibility: This position is eligible for our domestic relocation program.
