Position Details

Position: Full-Time Mental Health Guard

Site: Mississauga Hospital | 100 Queensway W, Mississauga

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours: Continental Nights (2000 - 0800)

Payrate: $21.59 / hour

Posting Date: September 15th, 2025

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.
Prerequisites
  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Covid Vaccine two doses
  • Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred
  • Diploma in Justice studies/police foundations is considered an asset
  • Vulnerable Sector Check - to be completed upon hire
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin\'s UoF/MOAB certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
  • Legally Authorized to work in Canada

Valid Certification in First Aid, CPR and AED
Valid Security Licence
Minimum of 1 year security experience
Vulnerable Sector Check
Immunization Record for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella and two step TB skin test
COVID Double Vaccinated
Proof of immunizations for TB, MMR, Varicella
