Job summary

The Canadian Cancer Society is seeking a skilled Manager of Communications to lead mission-shaping communications strategies, plans and tools that raise awareness of CCS’s work across advocacy, health policy, prevention, cancer information and support services.

Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, you will write and edit materials, manage media relations, coordinate projects, and foster a high-performing, inclusive team culture across multiple Canadian offices as part of a hybrid work

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field with 5+ years of experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop communications plans and tools aligned with mission priorities to drive awareness, engagement and revenue
  • Develop strategies to increase exposure of CCS impact in advocacy, health policy, prevention, cancer information and support services
  • Write, edit and deploy engaging communications materials such as news releases, key messages and speeches
  • Manage and develop a high-performing mission communications team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture
  • Embed CCS leadership in advocacy across communications activities, emphasizing outcomes and innovations
  • Strengthen CCS familiarity, relevance and trust through cohesive narratives with stakeholders
  • Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate nationwide mission plans
  • Respond to emerging issues in advocacy, health policy, prevention or cancer information portfolios
  • Monitor performance and adjust strategies based on data and insights
  • Champion audience-centric, plain-language content to drive engagement
  • Provide ad-hoc support for Research Communications team as needed
  • Foster growth and development within the team while upholding CCS values
