Job description

Base Met Labs is a commercial laboratory specializing in the recovery of base and precious metals from raw mineralization. We are seeking a dedicated Mineralogy Lab Technician to join our team.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting mineralogical sample preparation, including polished section preparation and other sample types.
• Applying a logical and systematic approach with attention to detail in sample and polished section preparation.
• Operating Automated Mineralogy Instrumentation and managing sample/section flow between preparation and instrumentation, collaborating with the section preparation team.
• Working with the Mineralogy Manager and mineralogists to determine project and polished section flow to Automated Mineralogy instrumentation.
• Operating SEM, including imaging and spectra acquisition to support mineralogy projects.
• Supporting mineralogists in data reporting using software such as QEMSCAN, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
• Performing SEM filament exchanges, minor repairs, troubleshooting, and general equipment maintenance.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the Automated Mineralogy Room.
• Upkeeping and documenting laboratory SOPs and other records.
• Identifying and correcting quality control issues.
• Providing guidance and supervision in sample preparation as needed.
• Ensuring the lab and preparation area are kept clean and working as part of a team.
• Performing other duties as required. Previous laboratory experience is preferred.

Salary & Benefits: The annual salary ranges from $20,000 to $28,000, based on skills, experience, and qualifications. Benefits include vacation, sick leave, medical coverage, and more.
