Job summary

AGAT Laboratories Ltd. is seeking a Mineralogist to perform X-ray mineralogical analysis and interpretation in our Calgary laboratory. This full-time role welcomes recent graduates and experienced mineralogists alike.

You will conduct XRD/XRF/TGA analyses, interpret results, coordinate projects, and collaborate with the team. The position emphasizes QA/QC, data interpretation, and producing technical reports, with opportunities for R&D and conference presentations.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of mineral identification, crystallography, and mineral chemistry.
  • Hands-on experience with XRD, including phase identification and Quantitative Phase Analysis (QPA) using the Rietveld refinement method.
  • Experience in clay mineral identification and characterization, including oriented clay analysis.
  • Experience with XRF, including WDXRF and EDXRF, for elemental analysis and data interpretation.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with mineral separation techniques, including density, magnetic, particle-size, and other physical separation methods.
  • Strong skills in QA/QC, analytical troubleshooting, data interpretation, and technical report preparation.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and laboratory teamwork skills.

Mineralogist - Calgary, AB

AGAT is seeking a full-time Mineralogist to perform X-ray mineralogical analysis and interpretation in our Calgary mineralogy laboratory. This role is ideal for recent graduates as well as experienced mineralogists.

Work Environment:

This position requires a person to sit for prolonged periods of time in an office setting. Manual dexterity is required to perform this position.
