Job description

Eldorado Gold Saskatchewan | Foran (TSX:ELD) is seeking a Miner 4 – Cable Bolter to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a 14/14 rotation. This position is open to candidates who live in close proximity to our mine site in Saskatchewan or Manitoba. It is not eligible for FIFO from other provinces.

As part of the underground operations team, this position will be responsible for the installation of cable bolts in underground mining tunnels to provide ground support and reinforcement. This role requires an understanding of drilling techniques, equipment operation, safety protocols and teamwork to ensure the safety and stability of the underground mining environment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Operate cable bolting equipment to install cable bolts into the tunnel walls and roofs.
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct pre-operational equipment checks and report any issues or hazards.
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of cable bolt installations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of bolts to identify any signs of damage.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on cable bolting equipment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or defects for timely maintenance.
  • Collaborate with other members of the mining team, including geologists, miners, and engineers, to coordinate ground support activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of cable bolt installations, grout installed and equipment usage.
  • Provide reports on completed tasks and work progress.
  • Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, such as ground collapses or equipment failures, following established safety procedures.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 6 months experience working in an underground mine environment.
  • Training in cable bolting and underground mining techniques is preferred.
  • Experience operating underground mobile equipment and cable bolting equipment
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in underground mining.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in confined spaces and challenging underground conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive Hourly Rate: $48.58 - $56.12/hr which includes a target-based monthly bonus.
