SSR Mining – Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for a Mine Technician.

About Your New Role:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Mine Engineering, the Mine Technician (Surveyor), is responsible for creating, designing, and developing best practices regarding mining engineering processes, procedures and practices to support the success of departmental targets. The Mine Technician has a diverse skill set that allows them to support various mine-engineering positions (surveying, planning, scheduling, ventilation, ground control, services, and projects). The Mine Technician will role model a safety program that promotes a culture of safety and health of all employees working in and/or with the Technical Services Department.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide underground & surface surveying for the mine; specifically, daily underground markups, bonus & monthend pickups, borehole tracking, surface tailings monument monitoring & surface stockpile scans.

  • Maintaining and updating production & development database, mine development drawings, mine level plans and long-sections.

  • Assist the engineering team with stope reconciliation survey and data analysis.

  • Provide project planning services for the Operations and Technical teams.

  • Work with the geology and engineering department on mineral lease documentation.

  • Assist with field level geotechnical QA/QC testing and instrumentation installation and monitoring under the guidance of the Mine Engineer.

  • Adhering to programs, systems, and procedures in mine survey and design.

  • Update current technical services policies, procedures and systems as required.

  • Create a strong safety culture through engagement and empowering others.

  • Engagement in all engineering functions and ensuring that service and operating guidelines are executed with excellence.

  • Work with Technical and Operations teams on capital equipment appropriation documentation.

  • Alignment with the Company’s SHEMS system as it applies to the Technical Services Department.

  • As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must possess a security screening document or equivalent document as defined by The Mines Regulations, 2018. The successful candidate will be required to maintain their security screening document or equivalent document throughout their employment at their own expense and will be required to provide confirmation of same and advise the employer of any changes to, revocation of or suspension of their security screening document during the term of their employment.

Your Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal/relationship skills - ability to work and communicate with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization, written and oral.

Your Education and Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Certificate or Diploma of Technology in Mine Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience underground mine surveying.

  • Member of SASTT (or similar provincial governing body) with either an (A.Sc.T.) or (C.Tech) would be considered an asset.

  • Experience with Deswik, Leica Captivate, AutoCad, Mine Markup/MineCAD, Carlson Boretrak, and Teledyne Optech would be considered an asset, must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

About Our Working Conditions:

This position has a schedule of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge.
