Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) invites applications for a Survey Technician at Horizon Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta. You will support Mine Operations, Mine Projects, Reclamation and Geology with daily survey requirements and field data collection.

The role runs on a 7x7, 12-hour shift schedule in a safety-sensitive environment, offering career growth through diverse surveying assignments and exposure to advanced geomatics tools.

Qualifications

  • Survey Technologist or Geomatics Engineering Technologist certificate or diploma.
  • Five years of oil sands mining experience preferred.
  • Experience using Maptek survey scanners preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills and data processing with PointStudio and Minesight software as well as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Drone operating experience/license is an asset in this role.
  • Class 5 driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Weekly mine volume reconciliation of ore and waste in order to meet regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Accurate survey layout of Mine Engineering designs and structures during construction.
  • Monitor and as-build survey of in-pit and ex-pit structures for QA/QC.
  • Provide technical field survey support to Mine Operations on a daily basis.
  • Provide ongoing field survey support to Mine Geotechnical, Geology and Mine Projects groups.

Make your mark while you grow your career! Are you passionate about mine surveying in a world-class oil sands mining facility? We are currently seeking a Survey Technician to join our Horizon Mine Survey team. In this role, you will be given the opportunity to showcase your expertise by supporting Mine Operations, Mine Projects, Reclamation, and Geology in their daily survey requirements.

  • Job location: Horizon Oil Sands - Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 7 X 7, 12-hour shifts
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities
