Meaningful work you'll be a part of

As a Qualified Reserve Engineer, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to resolve business issues, deliver high-quality client service, and improve operational efficiency. In this key role, you will serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical insights and performing audit procedures to assess the reasonableness of mineral reserves and resources estimates prepared by qualified persons (QPs) that impact financial reporting, leveraging your own QP-level expertise. Your role will be critical in helping audit teams understand, evaluate, and obtain evidence related to mineral reserves and resources, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.

The role requires a deep understanding of mine engineering, including experience with reserve estimation, mine planning, and reporting.

The primary objective is to assist audit teams in assessing the reasonableness of reserve and resource estimates. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting audit teams in risk assessment and scoping procedures related to reserve estimates;
  2. Engaging with clients and their QPs to understand reserve estimation processes, methodologies, and models;
  3. Interfacing with regulators to support audit approaches;
  4. Assessing controls related to reserve estimates;
  5. Evaluating the appropriateness of methodologies and models used, including compliance with standards such as NI 43-101, CIM, and SEC rules;
  6. Reviewing data and assumptions used in reserve evaluations;
  7. Documenting procedures and conclusions for audit documentation;
  8. Collaborating with the firm's methodology team to develop audit guidance and training materials.

Experiences and skills you'll use to solve

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in mining engineering or related fields;
  • Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or a related field;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng);
  • Strong knowledge of NI 43-101, SEC mining disclosure rules, and industry standards such as CIM, JORC, CRISCO, SME guidelines;
  • Proficiency in geological and technical data analysis and industry software (Datamine, Vulcan, Deswik);
  • Experience with reserve estimation, mine planning, and metallurgical recovery;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills;
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, Excel, Tableau, and Python.

    PwC BC Region Pay Range

    The salary range for this position is $203,300 - $338,900, plus potential annual bonuses. Actual compensation depends on skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
