Job summary

Jobtailor in Calgary is seeking an experienced Mining Engineer to lead mine planning projects and mentor technical teams on design surfaces, schedules, and cost estimates. You will work closely with mining clients and internal disciplines, support the proposal process, prepare technical reports, and oversee budgets, scopes, and schedules.

Travel for workshops and site visits is expected, and registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with APEGA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mine planning first principles.
• Experience in mine and/or tailings planning.
• Experience in the operational or closure phases within the mining industry.
• Familiarity with regulatory and legislative frameworks.
• Strong project management skills.
• Skills in mine planning software (Hexagon MinePlan and/or Deswik, CAD).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel for workshops, client meetings, and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with mining clients and technical teams on projects.
• Support the mine planning team and other technical disciplines by providing guidance, training, and mentorship.
• Promote a culture of safety and well-being.
• Utilize understanding of mining engineering principles to aid in creating design surfaces, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Support proposal development process by outlining work scopes and estimating project schedules and costs.
• Prepare, review, and authenticate advanced technical documentation and reports.
• Oversee budget, scope, and schedule of projects.
• Facilitate workshops and conduct risk assessments with stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients.
