Job summary

PT Hatfield Indonesia is looking for a Mine Permitting Specialist based in either North Vancouver or New Westminster, BC. This permanent, full-time role allows for hybrid and flexible working arrangements. The specialist will provide expert advice on environmental permitting processes and ensure project compliance with budgets and schedules.

The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, with at least three years of experience in regulatory compliance and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. A valid driver’s license and strong problem-solving skills are mandatory.

  • Experience in project management and handling multidisciplinary teams.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license and experience driving a pickup truck.

Location

North Vancouver / New Westminster, BC

Position

Mine Permitting Specialist – permanent, full‑time. Ideal location in Vancouver offices, remote within BC also accepted.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice on local, provincial, and federal environmental requirements (regulation, policy, guidelines, standards).
  • Provide recommendations with regard to permitting requirements, processes and approaches.
  • Coordinate and integrate information from multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Review materials for adequacy with respect to regulatory submissions related to permitting.
  • Support meetings and presentations with clients, regulators, and interest groups.
  • Ensure project compliance with schedules and budgets (development and tracking).
  • Project financial controls and reporting (status, accruals, change requests, etc.).
Education and Experience
  • Undergraduate degree or higher in an appropriate field of study and professional registration (or eligibility for a relevant professional designation).
  • A minimum of 3 years experience supporting permitting and regulatory compliance of mining and/or water‑related projects.
  • Experience in project management from proposal writing to administration to closure.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary projects, baseline characterization, environmental impact assessment, permitting processes, and monitoring and annual reporting.
  • Experience and success in working in large, multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Experience operating in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and teamwork.
  • A valid Canadian driver’s license for the past three years, experience driving a pickup truck and the ability to meet the requirements for our third‑party automobile insurance policy.
Other Assets / Skills
  • Technical training and/or experience with water or environmental science, mine water management, mitigations and options assessment, and management plan development.
  • Experience engaging and working with Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Analytical skills applicable to study design and statistical analysis or environmental data.

Salary

$77k-$95k.
