Job description

CGC Inc. is currently recruiting for a Mine Maintenance Mechanic for our gypsum plant, based in Hagersville, Ontario.

It's a permanent and full-time position, offering a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their leadership ability and mechanical expertise in a manufacturing operation within a large corporation.

Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting the daily operations of servicing the Mine department.

Additional responsibilities of the Mine Maintenance Mechanic include:

  • Locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments such as laser alignment tools, stethoscope, tachometer, infrared camera, ultrasound and vibration analysis tools.
  • Removing defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools.
  • Adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Welding using the following methods: Tig, Mig and/or Stick welding.
  • Maintaining a high standard for housekeeping within the work area.
  • Working from blueprints and schematics and perform basic shop math.
  • Maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Prior training as an industrial mechanic, automotive service technician, or truck and transport mechanic.
  • Must be capable of working in a mine setting in a safe manner and following all safety rules and practices.
  • Must have the desired technical skills to work as a maintenance mechanic or electrician.
  • Follow instructions on printed work or customer orders to complete assigned tasks.
  • Basic computer skills preferred to complete safety training and review work-related emails.
  • Ability to learn to operate required equipment, including mobile equipment (forklifts, etc.).
  • Familiarity with common hand tools and how to properly use them.
  • Good communication skills needed to work with coworkers and customers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to cooperate with co-workers in areas of safety, quality, and understands importance of completing assigned tasks and their relationship to other requirements. Recognize unsafe conditions or hazards within work area.
  • Must be able to work 10 or 12 hour rotating shifts. 10 hour shift is generally Monday - Friday. 12 hour shift included weekends.

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
