The Opportunity

JOB DESCRIPTION
As a valuable member of the Albian Sands mining project and reporting to the Shift Team Lead, you will be responsible for supporting the mine maintenance team by safely maintaining the shovel fleet to ensure optimum reliability and availability of the assets.

  • Job location: Albian Oil Sands, Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off - 7 nights on, 7 nights off, working 12-hour shifts
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes
  • Application deadline: July 14, 2025
Key Accountabilities
  • Utilize your electrical experience to focus on the maintenance and repair of electrical components on heavy equipment including Bucyrus 495HF Cable Shovels, Hitachi EX 8000 & EX 2500 Hydraulic Shovels, and Komatsu PC3000 Hydraulic Shovels.
  • Support mechanical trades in removing and replacing major components such as engines, transmissions, and wheel motors.
What You Bring To The Role
  • Typically, 1-2 years of industry experience in Electrical Shovel Maintenance.
  • Journeyman Certificate in Alberta and/or an Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License or equivalent.
  • Expertise in electric mining shovels, power distribution, PCL control systems, voltage switching, troubleshooting trail cables, and working with various electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work on elevated sites such as scaffolds and aerial work platforms in indoor and outdoor environments.
